Profile Error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

Hi, I am trying to host dropthings on my web server that has a windows sharepoint services hosted on default site port 80. When i try to run dropthings from vs 2008 the page gets loaded with the url: http://localhost:8000 but if try to browse through the url by typing http://localhost/dropthings/default.aspx the default page throws the following error. please help to solve this.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
